ANNAPOLIS, MD (January 18, 2026) -- The No. 11 Tufts University men's squash team rebounded from a loss on Saturday to University of Virginia, topping the No. 15 United States Naval Academy 6-3 in action from the Prager Family Squash Center Sunday afternoon.
The win was the sixth in the last seven for the Jumbos, who upped their record to 8-4 on the season.
Navy (17-3) took the win at No. 1 as Wenquing Tang topped
Santiago Medina Carrillo 11-9, 11-9, 10-12, 11-9, but the Jumbos would snatch the wins at No. 2 and No. 3 thanks to strong efforts from
Nachiket Desai and
Rohan Valia.
Desai shook off a third game loss at the No. 2 spot to knock off Christian Graziano 11-6, 13-11, 5-11, 11-5. Valia would win a thrilling five-game affair, as he topped Alexander Orr 8-11, 11-8, 10-12, 13-11 and 11-3 at No. 3.
The Midshipmen captured a win at the No. 4 position, but first-year
Khaled Serag responded to a first game loss with three straight victories to best Matthew Kang at No. 5 7-11, 11-8, 11-8 and 12-10.
Senior
Jared Chin continued his fantastic season with his team-leading ninth win of the season, needing just three games to top Avinash Uppuluri 12-10, 11-5 and 11-3 at the sixth position. Fellow senior
Mustafa Ayaz was a winner in three games as well, defeating 11-7, 12-10 and 11-3 at No. 7, and senior
Shivin Kumar topped Michael Tierney, Jr. 4-11, 11-6, 7-11, 14-12 and 11-9 in a fantastic match.
Navy won at No. 9 and No. 10, but the Jumbos were too much in claiming the win.
Tufts will send some individuals to the College Squash Association Individual Championships next weekend in Philadelphia at Arlen Spector Squash Center starting on Thursday, January 22.
