PHILADELPHIA (March 7, 2026) -- The No. 11 Tufts University men's squash team made program history on Saturday, earning its first-ever Potter Cup victory with a 6-3 win over No. 12 Williams College at the CSA National Team Championships at the Arlen Specter US Squash Center.
The Jumbos captured six matches across the ladder to secure the milestone victory, improving to 13-8 on the season while defeating their NESCAC rival on the national stage. The win marks Tufts' first triumph in the Potter Cup bracket in program history.
Tufts quickly established momentum with strong play in the middle of the lineup. Nachiket Desai delivered a dominant performance at the No. 2 position, defeating Asher Leavy in straight games, 11-9, 11-2, 11-9. Desai controlled the pace of the match throughout, giving the Jumbos an early point against the Ephs.
At No. 3, Rohan Valia produced one of the most competitive matches of the afternoon. After narrowly winning the opening game 12-10 and dropping a marathon second game 16-14, Valia regrouped to take the final two games 11-5 and 11-8 to secure a four-game victory over Alex Akbari.
Jared Chin also earned an important point for Tufts at the No. 5 position. Chin took the first game before Williams evened the match, but the Jumbo regained control to win the third and ultimately closed out the match with a tight 12-10 fourth-game victory.
Several of Tufts' victories came in dramatic fashion. Mustafa Ayaz battled through a five-game contest at No. 6, rallying after dropping the first game and eventually claiming a 13-11 decision in the fifth. Aarav Gill followed with another hard-fought win at No. 7, edging Causey Green 11-9 in the deciding game after the players split the first four frames.
Ali Tarek added a convincing result at No. 8, earning a straight-game victory over Rafay Syed, 11-1, 11-9, 11-3, to help seal the team result for the Jumbos.
Williams picked up wins at the top of the ladder at No. 1 and No. 4, along with a victory at No. 9, but Tufts' depth across the middle of the lineup proved decisive in the 6-3 team win.
Tufts finishes the season 13-8 overall.Â
