CLINTON, NY (November 21, 2025) – The 11th-ranked Tufts University men's squash team earned its first win of the season today on the road at #26 Hamilton College by a 9-0 score in NESCAC action.
Tufts (1-2) captured five of its matches in three games and the other four by 3-1 scores. The Continentals dropped to a 1-2 record on the season.
Shivin Kumar had the most convincing victory for Tufts, defeating Hamilton's James Merrill by 11-1, 11-5, 11-3 scores in the eighth match. In the #2 match, Tufts'
Nachiket Desai continued a good start to the new season with an 11-5, 11-3, 11-4 win over Atreyus Bhavsar.
The Jumbos' other 3-0 wins came in the seventh match by
Ilya Kipkalov (11-8, 11-4, 11-4), from #3 player
Rohan Valia (11-5, 11-6, 11-6) and with
Rohan Bhatia winning in the ninth spot (12-10, 11-4, 11-3).
Three Tufts players came back for wins after losing their first games. Santiago Medina at #1 topped Continental Jacob Shulman 9-11, 11-3, 11-5, 11-0. For the fourth match,
Jared Chin overcame a 12-10 opening loss with 11-8, 11-7 and 11-3 scores for the win over Jacob Li. Also in the ninth and final match to finish, in the #5 position, Tufts'
Mustafa Ayaz closed out the team win with his own 10-12, 11-8, 11-5, 13-11 victory.
Aarva Gill had the other Tufts win versus Lucas Walden at #6 by 11-5, 9-11, 11-6, 11-5 scores.
The Jumbos will continue their weekend road trip with a visit to Cornell University, where they will play Western University (Ont.) on Saturday and the host Big Red on Sunday.
