NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Tufts men's squash team completed a busy weekend of NESCAC play on Sunday, traveling to Connecticut College to take on the Camels in NESCAC action Sunday afternoon. The Camels were able to top the Jumbos 9-0.
Several Jumbos played very close matches with their Camel opponents, but just weren't able to earn the win. In the first position, junior tri-captain Aditya Advani won a game in the first position against Brian Mullen, but fell in four games (11-1, 11-9, 5-11, 11-8). In the second position, freshman Braden Chiulli forced his match to five games but wasn't able to secure a win against Michal Coscarelli (8-11, 4-11, 11-8, 11-9, 11-4).
In the fourth position, senior tri-captain Elliot Kardon played a four game match with Randy Coplin, but wasn't able to earn a win, falling 11-6, 10-12, 11-4, 11-6. Rookie Alec Goodrich faced off with Niccolo Premutico in the seventh position and played a four game match, but eventually lost 9-11, 11-3, 11-0, 11-1.
In the third position freshman Sandeep Rishi fell in three games to Matthew Lillie. Junior Brandon Weiss took the courts in the fifth position, but wasn't able to top Brendan McClintick, 11-2, 11-1, 11-7. Senior tri-captain Hugo Meggitt faced off with John Dunham in the sixth position, but fell in three games.
In the eighth position, sophomore Owen Elliott was bested in three games by Daniel Reisman, 11-6, 11-1, 11-5. Rounding out the Jumbos lineup was freshman John Patrick in the ninth position, but the Jumbo fell to his Camel opponent in three games.
The Jumbos took on Colby on Saturday afternoon, but weren't able to win that match either. The men move to 5-10 on the season after the weekend matches. They will be back in action on Friday when they travel to Williams to compete in the NESCAC Championships.
