CAMBRIDGE - The Tufts men's squash team rolled into semester break with a four-match winning streak after taking care of neighboring rival MIT, 7-2, on Wednesday night. Coach Doug Eng's Jumbos are now 5-2 overall.
The Jumbos persevered in a match that featured six of nine competitions that lasted longer than three games. Freshman #2 Zach Schweitzer (Huntingdon Valley, PA), senior #3 Heny Miller (Philadelphia, PA), freshman #8 Elliot Kardon (Weston, MA) and senior #9 Eli Borek (Washington, DC) all won four-game matches for Tufts. Miller won three straight games after losing the first, while Kardon outlasted MIT's Connor Kirschbaum 18-16 for a game-one win in their match.
After winning his first two games at #5 fairly handily, Jumbo sophomore Michael Abboud (Bronxville, NY) won 12-10 in the #5 match. Freshman Alex Nalle (Philadelphia, PA) defeated MIT's West Hubbard in the #1 match 11-8, 11-6, 11-9.
The Jumbos are idle until January 21 when they will play at the Amherst Round Robin. MIT, now 4-6 overall, finishes the fall portion of their schedule at Amherst on Saturday.
