NEW LONDON, CONN. - (May 3, 2025): The Tufts University men's track and field team bounced back from a slow day one to jump into second place at the Division III New England Championships at the United States Coast Guard Academy on Saturday.
Senior
Edward Kiboma led off day two with a points finish in the high jump. The senior took fourth with a 1.95m to earn the first points on day two for Tufts.
First year
Luke Benson picked up a few more points for Tufts in the triple jump with a fourth place finish as well. The five-point effort was earned by a 14.07m mark in the event.
Junior
Quinn Hampson took first place in the 1500m run to tally the first win of day two for the Jumbos. He set a new facility record with a 3:52.52 to break his personal best and set the 46th fastest time in the NCAA Division III.
Noah Turner kept the points coming with his finish in the 100m finals. He took eighth place with a 10.92. Turned would also finish seventh in the 200m dash with a 21.60.
The 400m hurdles saw junior Cameron McLeod finish fourth and first year
Sebastian Cohen in sixth. McLeod scooped up five points with his 54.41 and Cohen added a treble more with a 54.94.
Calvin Cummings made it another Jumbos win after taking top spot in the 3000m steeplechase. His personal best time of 9:24.24 set a new 54th best time in the NCAA Division III.
The relays ended the day with a win and a strong points finish. The 4x800m relay squad of Cusato, Kurian, Henok and Lucas finished in first with a 7:40.90. The 4x400m relay team of Forde, Kamali, Verma and Sandoski took fourth with a facility record-breaking time of 3:17.22.
The decathlon's conclusion saw first year
Dylan Moreno take fifth place with 5473 points and senior
Cole Anderson in seventh place with 5133 points.
The Jumbos finished the New England Championships in second place, just 5.5 points behind champions Wesleyan.
The Jumbos will have a week to rest before they head out to Amherst for the NEICAAA Championships at UMass Amherst on Friday, May 9.
