Men's Track and Field Kicks Off Outdoor Season in Georgia

ATLANTA, GA. (March 21, 2025) - The Tufts University men's outdoor track and field team leapt off to a solid start at day one of the Emory Spring Break Classic in Georgia on Friday.

Junior Randy Hamilton claimed the first outdoor victory of the year for the Jumbos in the javelin. He took the top spot on the podium with a solid throw of 58.46m to start the day strong. Sophomore Sami Witta had a solid start to his season as well, leaping to eighth place in the high jump with a mark of 1.90m. 

Junior Cameron McLeod took fifth in the men's 400m hurdles, finishing with a time of 54.27, just a quarter of a second off of his personal best in the category. First year Sebastian Cohen also had a solid outdoor debut, taking seventh in the 400 hurdles with a 54.84.

Junior Will Cusato was the next Jumbo to win his respective event, claiming victory in the men's 1500m Invitational event. His mark of 3:57.30 was just .41 ahead of the second place runner.

The final event of the day saw the strongest finish of the day for Tufts. Four of the five top spots in the men's 5000m run were Jumbos, led by junior Quinn Hampson in first place with a 14:47.97. Fellow junior Amokrane Aouchice was just behind him in third with a 14:48.85. Juniors Luke Brennan and Calvin Cummings took fourth and fifth with a 14:58.91 and a 15:08.96 respectively. 

Tufts will continue competition tomorrow at the Emory Spring Break Classic with competition beginning at 10:00 AM.
