Tufts Cupid Challenge Sees Jumbos Perform Well on Day One

MEDFORD, MA (February 7, 2024) - The Tufts University men's indoor track and field team began the Tufts Cupid Challenge with a strong first day in the Gantcher Center on Friday afternoon.

The men's team competed in the first four categories of the heptathlon with sophomore Ryder Kropiwnicki holding the best position for the Jumbos. Kropiwnicki sits in fourth place after beginning the day with a debut in the 60m dash. His 7.23 earned fourth place, which he followed up by winning the long jump with a personal best 6.36m. An 11th place finish in the high jump and a 12th place finish in the shot put keep the sophomore athlete well within reach of a podium position in the heptathlon.

Josh Wilkie was just behind his sophomore teammate in fifth place. The junior started his day with a debut in the 60m dash, earning third place with a 7.19. He set a new personal best in the long jump with a 5.98m for eighth place. He matched his career best high jump with a fifth place earning 1.75m, and rounded out the day with a 9.42m toss in the shot put.

The Jumbos will complete the heptathlon tomorrow at the Gantcher Center beginning at 10:00 am. The 60m hurdles, 1000m run and pole vault will be contested to determine the finishing results of the event.
