SPRINGFIELD, MASS. (February 22, 2025) - The Tufts University men's indoor track and field team continued to improve at the Springfield College Triangle Classic on Saturday setting new personal records left and right.
Sophomore jumper
Sami Witta kicked off the day with a win in the high jump, making it his fourth win in the event this season. His mark of 2.00m led the field, and was a new high for him this season. Junior
Sahr Matturi took a spot on the podium in the long jump, taking third with a mark of 6.55m. First year
Alejandro Rincon set a new personal best in the pole vault, finishing in third with a 4.15m mark. Junior
Tre Williams rounded out the field events with a fourth place finish in the weight throw, recording a toss of 15.21m.
The track saw
Jackson Kiefer set a new personal best in the 600m dash with a 1:26.58 for seventh place.
Gabe Grove also set a new personal record with a 9:01.44 in the 3000m run for a fifth place finish.
Josh Wilkie took second place in the 60m hurdles after finishing first in his preliminary heat. His 8.76 second finish was enough to earn the silver medal in the category.
The Jumbos finished the day on a high note as first year
Dylan Moreno took home first place in the heptathlon. His score of 4198 was a new personal best, and was composed of personal best scores in the pole vault (3.40m), 60m dash (7.48) and 1000m run (2:47.49).
The Jumbos will have a week to tune up before they head to the Division III New England Championships at the TRACK at New Balance on Friday, February 28th and Saturday, March 1st beginning at 10:00 am in Boston.
