AMHERST, MA (February 10, 2024) - The Tufts University men's squash team got started with the NESCAC tournament Saturday afternoon in Amherst MA. The Jumbos squared off against Bates College. The No. 2 seeded Jumbos were able to outlast the No. 7 seed Bobcats 6-3.
The Jumbos (11-5) were able to close out the day by winning the final four matches of the day in straight-set victories. At the No. 5 spot, junior
Nieve Monderer defeated Tia Billimoria 11-3, 11-7, 11-7. At the No. 6 spot, senior
Sanjana Vissapragada outlasted Angelina Amastal 11-3, 11-4, 11-2. At the No. 7 spot, senior
Ellyn Xu took care of business against Daina Velez 11-1, 11-3, 11-6. At the No. 8 spot, freshman Chole Bergam bested Hollis Hale 11-7, 11-3, 11-9.

Maria Arsenieva was outlasted by Andy Martagon in straight sets 11-7, 12-10, 11-3. At the No. 2 spot, junior
Riddhi Joshi fell short to Navya Gupta 11-7, 11-4, 11-3. At No.3 senior
Caroline Chin bested Aasya Patel in a hard-fought five-set match 11-5, 9-11, 11-6, 9-11, 12-10. At the no. 4 spot, junior
Aleezah Burhan battled hard in a five-set match against Sumairaa Suleman but came up short in the fifth set 17-15, 11-9, 7-11, 5-11, 11-9.
The Jumbos will take on No. 3 seed Middlebury College in the NESCAC semi-finals Sunday, February 11, at 9 am at Amherst College.
