HARTFORD, Conn. - The Tufts University baseball team won yet another rubber game, taking game three from Trinity, 16-5, at Campus Field Sunday afternoon in NESCAC East Divisional play. Senior tri-captain Connor McDavitt was three-for-five for the Jumbos with four RBIs.

Trinity moves to 10-9 overall and 2-4 in league play with the loss, while the Jumbos improved to 17-5 on the year and 4-2 in conference tilts.

Tufts broke open a 1-1 game with four runs in both the third and fourth innings. The visitors also added three runs in the top of sixth and seventh frames as well. The Trinity bats showed signs of life late in the contest as the Bantams scored four runs in their final three at-bats.

Senior Willie Archibald tossed six innings of relief and struck out four batters to earn his first win of the season for the Jumbos. Sophomore southpaw Chris Speer (Westport, Conn.) was saddled with the loss for Trinity as he worked the first 2.2 innings and surrendered five runs. Senior reliever Daniel Pidgeon (Darien, Conn.) worked three quality innings of relief for the hosts, as he allowed one earned run and struck out two batters. Sophomore Charlie McQuinn closed the game for Tufts, recording the final six outs of the game with a pair of strikeouts.

Offensively, first-year Tyler Forgione (North Branford, Conn.) and senior Adam Moossmann (East Northport, N.Y.) led the Trinity attack with two hits apiece. Moossmann had a pair of RBIs and one run scored, while Forgione had one RBI. Junior Matthew Mortimer (Worcester, Mass.) reach base safely twice courtesy of two walks. Senior tri-captain Carson Kenney (Kensington, Md.) and first-year outfielder Ryan Vultaggio (Groton, Mass.) each had one hit apiece for the hosts.

The Jumbos had three different players record three-hit games as the team registered 18 hits. McDavitt, cleanup hitter and freshman Tommy O'Hara and junior shortstop Matt Moser combined to go 9-of-15 with eight RBIs and six runs scored.  Senior first basemen James Howard went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and rookie designated hitter Michael McLaughlin added two hits. Five different Jumbos had two or more RBIs in the contest.

Trinity returns to action on Tuesday, April 14, with a road contest versus in-state, Division I foe Yale. The Jumbos have little time to rest as they take the field again on Monday at home when Salem State visits for a 3:00 pm start.
