MEDFORD, MA (May 29, 2026) – Senior
Cole Donato was named to the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Division III All-America Team for his sensational send off season as the ace for the Jumbos.
As a member of the All-America Third Team as a pitcher, Donato is the first Jumbo since Clay Sowell to receive an All-American selection as the catcher reached the fourth team in 2021. The senior is the only pitcher from the New England Small Athletic Conference (NESCAC) to receive the national recognition from the ABCA. He is one of six pitchers on the third team and is one of two hurlers from New England.
Donato led all Jumbo starters with an impressive 2.40 ERA which ranked third in the NESCAC. The Walpole native also led the conference with 75.1 innings pitched and wins with nine. He earned himself NESCAC Pitcher of the Year honors, was selected to the All-NESCAC First Team, and was recently named to the ABCA/Rawlings and D3baseball.com All-Region 1 First Teams. Closing out his collegiate career with dominance that included 61 strikeouts which ranked third in the conference and second on Tufts.
His All-American season helped the Jumbos claim their first conference title since 2023. Donato also contributed largely to hosting an NCAA Regional Round with Claremont-Mudd Scripps, Kean University, and Mitchell College coming to visit Medford. In 12 appearances on the bump and 11 total starts the senior held a 1.16 WHIP and had one complete game to guide the Jumbos to a 31-11 overall record.
