Women's Sailing Places 11th in Season-Opening Deutsch Trophy Regatta

CAMBRIDGE - The Tufts women's sailing team opened its 2014-15 season with an 11th place finish out of 14 teams at the Toni Deutsch Trophy hosted by MIT on Saturday and Sunday.

With 14 races in two divisions, the Jumbos compiled finishes totaling 235. The A's were 12th in their division with a 132 total and the B team was eighth with a 103 final score.

Starting in A division for Tufts was junior Kate Shaner at skipper with sophomore Julia Fuller as crew. They posted a runner-up finish in the seventh race of the event.

Junior skipper Kate Levinson and senior crew Emily Lynn won the 13th race in B division and placed second in the fifth start.

Coast Guard was first at the regatta with a 96-50-146 scoring line.
