Lilly Ladd led the Tufts University women's sailing team into eighth place on the first day of the Intercollegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) Women's Fleet Race Championship finals today.
Six races were held in both A and B divisions on Tampa Bay Sunday, as the Fleet Race Nationals got started. The Jumbos accumulated scores of 74 in A division and 32 in B's for a team total of 106 that is eighth out of 18 teams so far.
Janzen and Ladd are second in B division with their 33 score after the six races on Sunday. They started strong, earning a second place in the first race and then winning the second race. From there. they recorded scores of fifth, fifth, 11th and eighth in the other four races.
The Jumbos are 13th in A division, where senior
Ella Hubbard skippered with junior
Eloise Goedkoop as crew. A ninth-place finish in today's fifth start was their best result of the day.
Stanford University leads the Championship with a 47 team score (19-28) after Sunday's action.
The second and final day of the ICSA Women's Fleer Race National Championship finals on Monday will have a first warning at 9:30 AM.
