Women's Sailing First-Year Molly Pleskus 10th at New England Single-Handed Championship

NEW LONDON, CT - Tufts first-year Molly Pleskus overcame a slow start to post a top 10 finish at the New England Women's Sailing Single-handed Championship hosted by Coast Guard over the weekend.

In 12 races sailed on Saturday and Sunday, Pleskus compiled finishes totaling to 131 for 10th place. She was seven behind ninth-place Madeleine Whittier from Northeastern (124).

Pleskus moved into the top 10 with strong showings in the late races. She was second in the eighth start of the regatta and placed third in the 10th.

Tufts junior Amanda Sommi was also in the field and placed 14th with a 154 score. The event featured 18 competitors overall.

Now three-time champion, Erika Reineke from Boston College put on another impressive performance, posting only 14 points in 12 races. Robin Lesh from MIT, Liz Dubovik from Connecticut College, Kelly McGlynn from Brown, Lindsay Baab from Brown, and Dana Rohde from Coast Guard also advanced to the Women's Single-handed Nationals.
