MEDFORD, MA (March 1, 2026) -- The No.1 Tufts University men's lacrosse team won its second game in as many days to open the 2026 season Sunday, scoring nine fourth-quarter goals to pull away for a 22-10 win over visiting Union College in non-conference action on Bello Field.

The win was the Jumbos' 30th in a row, which is a school record and is also the longest in all of NCAA men's lacrosse. Tufts has now won four straight over the Garnet Chargers (0-4), including averaging 22 goals over the last three meetings.

Tufts senior standout attack partners Jack Regnery and Brooks Hauser were the story, as the pair combined for nine goals and 14 total points. Despite the scoreline, the game was seemlingly close for the majority of the contest as Union hung with the Jumbos until the final stanza.

The Jumbos scored the first three goals of the game, including a tally from senior long-stick midfielder Ben Frisoli just 12 seconds into the contest to get Tufts off and running. The two teams would trade goals over the remainder of the first quarter, as a Regnery unassisted strike made it 5-2 after 15 minutes in favor of the Jumbos.

Union netted the first goal of the second quarter, but Tufts went on a 4-1 run with two coming from junior Will Emsing to make it 9-4 with 6:05 to go in the first half. Union didn't go away, netting three of the next four to make it 10-7 Tufts at the break.

Tufts pushed its lead back up to five at 12-7 right after the halftime intermission thanks to goals from Chase Beyer and Regnery, leading 13-8 heading into the fourth quarter. Union pulled wo within four early in the fourth quarter, but Hauser scored twice in a two-minute stretch wrapped around a Regnery man-up goal from Hauser to start an 8-0 run for Tufts to put the game away.

Hauser finished with a game-high five goals on eight shots, adding four ground balls, and Regnery recorded four goals and four helpers, chalking up a pair of loose balls and two caused turnovers. Regnery also moved into ninth all-time in assists with the 81st of his Sunday.

Emsing finished with three goals and an assist, while Beyer had three points on two goals and an assist. Junior middie Jackson Redd also had a goal and an assist, and first-year Mason Theis scored his first as a Jumbo as part of eight other players with one goal apiece.

Junior Logan Lee was strong on defense with four caused turnovers and two ground balls, and Frisoli finished with two caused turnovers and four ground balls. Sophomore defender William Bonner and junior Jordan Ito each had two ground balls and two caused turnovers as well, while sophomore Davis Owens forced one turnover and scooped up three ground balls.

Senior Victor Salcedo finished with 10 face-off wins and six ground balls, though Union won 20 of the game's 36 face-offs on the day. Sophomore Alex Dircks got his first collegiate start on Sunday, making eight saves to get the victory while playing all 60 minutes.

Tufts outshot Union 51-37 for the game, and were a very strong 25-for-27 on clear attempts. The Jumbos also were 2-for-4 with the extra man Sunday.
