MEDFORD, MA (June 10, 2025) – Junior skipper
Ben Mueller of the Tufts University sailing team earned an Intercollegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) Honorable Mention All-American award announced today.
Mueller skippered Tufts' A division boat that helped the Jumbos place seventh at the 2025 ICSA Open Fleet Race National Championship in late May. It was Tufts' best finish at the event since 2014. Sailing with first-year crew
Kate Castleberry, Mueller skippered Tufts to sixth place in A division at the Fleet Race Nationals at St. Mary's College (MD). They had three top-five finishes out of their seven races overall.
In the Western Semifinals of the Fleet Race Championships, Tufts qualified for the finals with an eighth-place finish. Mueller skippered the Jumbos to a fifth-place score in A division, with three different crews. He and sophomore crew
Cody Lamoreux won the last race of the Semifinal.
At the ICSA Team Race Nationals, Mueller was part of a 12th-place finish by the Jumbos.
Back in the fall, Mueller had three top-five finishes in A division including fourths at Yale University's Harry Anderson Trophy and at Brown University's Sherman Hoyt Trophy. He helped the Jumbos qualify for the Atlantic Coast Championship finals by skippering the A dinghy to fifth place in the first round of the regatta.
Mueller is Tufts' first ICSA All-American since Ann Sheridan earned honorable mention crew recognition in 2022. He is the first Jumbo skipper to receive an All-American award since Alex Ruiz-Ramon in 2015.
