MEDFORD, MA (May 29, 2025) - For the third season in a row, Tufts University Softball's
Sophia DiCocco has earned an NCAA Division III Rawlings Gold Glove Awards® at the pitcher position. Presented by the NFCA, the award recognizes the best defensive players in the nation at each position.
With a knack for being able to get her glove on balls hit back at her in the circle, DiCocco is ranked 15th nationally among all position players with 2.79 assists per game. In 28 games for the Jumbos this spring she had 78 assists. The mark was second in NESCAC, behind only Trinity College shortstop Taylor Mikolajczak (2.85). DiCocco also had eight put-outs.
Thirteen times in 2025 DiCocco had three assists or more in a game, topped by the seven assists she had twice in games against Wesleyan University on April 6 and Babson College on April 22. She registered five assists against Middlebury College on April 11 and Colby College on May 11.
DiCocco is one of four New England players to earn one of the nine Gold Glove Awards this spring. She is the only recipient with three Gold Gloves, and one of only two repeat honorees from last year. The Division III Gold Glove was established in 2023, and DiCocco has won it each year since. For her career (2021-25), she had 313 assists in 134 games for a 2.34 average.
With DiCocco's defense and pitching (17-7, 2.50 era) in the circle, Tufts won the NESCAC championship and earned the team's seventh consecutive NCAA berth. Head coach
Lauren Ebstein's team finished with a 29-15 record.
