Delaney Tabbed As IWLCA Midfielder of the Year, Six Named All-Americans With IWLCA Award Release

IWLCA Also Names Eight All-Region Performers

MEDFORD, MA (May 28, 2025) -- Graduate student Madeline Delaney was named as the 2025 Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division III Midfielder of the Year Wednesday, while six total were named as All-Americans.

Delaney was joined on the First Team by seniors Genna Gibbons and Margie Carden, while junior Allie Zorn was a Second Team honoree at attack. Senior Ella Lesperance and graduate student Emma Joyce were Third Team selections.

Delaney becomes the Jumbos' second all-time IWLCA Midfielder of the Year, joining Anna Clarke from back in the 2022 season.

The Boxford, Massachusetts native earned the honor after a standout season anchoring both ends of the field for the Jumbos. Starting all 23 games, Delaney was a dominant force, posting a career-high 38 goals while also excelling in the possession game with 108 draw controls.

Her impact extended to the defensive side as well, collecting 26 ground balls and causing seven turnovers. A true all-around midfielder, Delaney's elite performance was recognized nationally—earning IWLCA First Team All-American honors, being named a USA Lacrosse Magazine All-American, and receiving First Team All-NESCAC recognition.

Carden picked up another award after capping her amazing career with the Jumbos this past weekend. Carden broke her own school record for goals in a season with 71 this year after potting two in the national title game against Middlebury. She finished her career with a program-record 268 goals while starting every game she played at Tufts, 87 in total.

Gibbons was the third First Team honoree for the Jumbos, as she started and played all 23 games this season for Tufts at defense and on the draw. She totaled 158 draw controls for the season, tops in the NESCAC, while adding 24 caused turnovers and 33 ground balls. She also scored on both of her shots.

Zorn was the Jumbos' leading points earner in 2025, as she finished with 62 goals and 26 points. She led the team with 23 free position goals, and had two or more goals in all but two games in 2025.

Joyce was back on the All-American list for the Jumbos after having a strong two-way season. Joyce netted 30 goals on the year, adding 27 ground balls, and 18 caused turnovers all while playing standout defense.

The last spot on the All-American list went to Lesperance, who earned her second All-American honor on attack. Lesperance led the Jumbos with 39 assists, adding 34 goals while her 73 points were the third-most on the squad.

In addition, the IWLCA named eight All-Region performers for the Jumbos, as the six All-Americans were joined on the All-Pilgrim Region First Team by senior goalkeeper Pascale de Buren. Senior defender Kathryn Fenandopulle was tabbed to the Pilgrim Region Second Team.
