MEDFORD, MA (March 8, 2025) - The Tufts University women's indoor track and field team rounded out their regular season slate of meets with a strong performance at the Tufts Final Qualifier at the Gantcher Center on Saturday.
The field events saw continued success for the Jumbos, as
Elysse Cumberland claimed victory in the triple jump. The first year leaped to a personal best mark of 12.01m to take the top spot of the podium. Senior
Jordan Andrew finished third in the long jump with a mark of 5.42m, a top mark in the NCAA Division III.
Sophomore
Ceci LaBarge had a great day at the throwing circle, taking third in the weight throw with a fling of 15.31m. She also set a personal best in the shot put with a throw of 10.31m. First year
Mia Kurtz took fifth in the same event with a toss of 11.11m.
Lexi King finished the day in the field with a second place finish in the high jump, finishing with a mark of 1.62m.
The track saw the momentum from the field carry over once more, as first year
Cameron Stanton took fifth place in the 60m hurdles, setting a personal best time of 9.26s in the preliminary round. Elizabeth Donahue also took a fifth place finish, as she finished the 3000m run in a personal best time of 9:56.06.
Simisola Lawal also finished fifth, taking the spot thanks to a personal best time in the 60m dash of 7.78.
The Jumbos finished the day with a bang, as they broke the school record in the 4x400 relay. First years
Arielle Chechile and
Makayla Moriarty combined with seniors
Emma Smith and
Annika Kral to finish the relay in 3:50.97, a new fastest time in program history. The time improved the previous record by over a second.
Tufts will head to Nazareth College for the 2025 NCAA Division III Women's Indoor Track and Field Championships, with competition beginning Friday March 14 at 10:00 am.
