PHILADELPHIA (March 8, 2025) -- In the season finale for the No. 11 Tufts University women's squash squad, the Jumbos battled against rival Dartmouth College but couldn't earn the win in the end as the Big Green prevailed 5-4 in the College Squash Association (CSA) Team Championships consolation round.
The match featured six matches that went five games, with five of those matches going to the Big Green. At the top position,
Vharsha Dinesh led two games to one by Maria Velasquez battled back to earn an 11-9, 7-11, 5-11, 11-3 and 12-10 victory.
Sophomore
Maria Arsenieva was knocked off by Eleanor Clifford 3-2 with a score of 8-11, 12-10, 11-5, 7-11 and 11-5 at No. 2, while Chelsea Cho also won a thriller at No. 3 over senior
Riddhi Joshi 1-11, 11-9, 11-6, 9-11, 11-6. The Jumbos dominated the middle part of the lineup as first-year
Sohni Vermani was a three-game winner with scores of 11-6, 11-6 and 11-4 over Maya Mansoor, while classmate
Anika Goyal also rolled to a 11-8, 11-6, 11-5 win over Zayna Usman.
Senior
Nieve Monderer played her final match of a Jumbo, and the senior went out with a bang as she knocked off Maya Shroff 11-6, 8-11, 11-9 and 11-4. Classmate
Aleezah Burhan also finished her illustrious career with a five-game win over Aubrey Lennon, taking an 11-9, 8-11, 11-8, 5-11, 11-6 victory.
The other two wins for Dartmouth were also five-game wins, as Kriti Muthu outlasted
Indira Moshi 3-11, 11-8, 9-11, 11-4 and 13-11 at No. 8. In the No. 9 spot, Nathalie Taylor edged
Chloe Bergam 11-4, 6-11, 11-5, 9-11, 11-8.
The Jumbos finish the season ranked No. 12 in the CSA rankings, while posting a 10-10 record overall and taking runners-up at the NESCAC Tournament this season.
