GREENSBORO, NC (March 20, 2025) – Junior
Madeleine Dunn and the 200 freestyle relay swam Honorable Mention All-American performances for the Tufts University women's swimming & diving team on the second day of the NCAA Division III Championships Thursday.
Dunn made the 400 individual medley consolation finals with a 4:27.43 time in the morning trials. She then swam 4:28.85 in the final tonight for 16th place. It's her second All-American finish in as many days including the 500 freestyle yesterday. Her sixth career All-American award, it's the first for Dunn in the 400 IM.
Then in the final event of the evening, the Jumbo 200 freestyle relay of junior
Isa Chambers, junior
Katharine Skelly, senior
Emma Claus and senior
Jillian Cudney timed 1:33.16 for 11th place. It's the fourth straight NCAA meet that Tufts has had an All-American finish in the 200 free relay. Individually, the All-American award is the 15th for Cudney, second for Claus and
Isa Chambers and first for Skelly.
With these two scoring efforts, Tufts added 13 team points today and is now in 12th place at the NCAA meet with a 46 total score.
The Jumbos had several others in action on Thursday. Senior
Cierra McCarty was in the 400 IM and placed 27th with a 4:39.62 touch. Four Tufts swimmers competed in the 100 butterfly, led by first-year
Angel Smyrniou in 25th place (55.81) and sophomore
Elena Harrison in 26th (55.88). Junior
Jade Foltenyi (56.26) and senior
Lara Wujciak (58.03) also swam in the 100 fly today. Two Jumbos were entered in the 200 freestyle – junior
Quinci Wheeler (1:52.52) and first-year
Noa Chambers (1:55.63).
In Friday's NCAA schedule, Tufts will have entries in the 200 medley relay, 200 butterfly, 100 backstroke, 100 breaststroke and 800 freestyle relay.
