HOPKINTON, NH (October 10, 2025) - The Tufts University women's cross country team placed 10th out of 25 teams at the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) Championships held at Hopkinton Fairgrounds on Friday.
Today was the 50th running of the NEICAAA women's meet. The event features Division I, II and III squads from around the region. The Jumbos were second among Division III teams today, behind only Bowdoin College.
Tufts' top five runners had finishes totaling up to a 230 score. Bowdoin was one spot ahead of Tufts in ninth place with a 222 mark. Providence College is the 2025 NEICAAA champion with a 67 team total.
Sophomore
Zoe Margolies was the Jumbos' top finisher on the five-kilometer course with an 18:25.04 time. She ran consistently, as she was in the 27th spot at the 1,000-kilometer mark and 24th at the 3K checkpoint before recording her 26th-place finish that was Tufts' best at the annual race since 2021. Margolies was third among DIII runners today.
For the third straight meet, sophomore
Deirdre Flanagan scored for the Jumbos. She ran with Margolies throughout the race and finished with an 18:29.27 time that was 31st overall (fourth DIII).
Scoring third for Tufts today was sophomore
Phoebe Bryar, whose 18:52.42 mark was 51st out of the 281 total finishers today. Sophomore
Grace Doyle in 61st place (19:05.89) and classmate
Eleanor Whitehouse in 70th (19:11.12) rounded out the Jumbos' scoring five.
Completing the first seven for Tufts were junior
Sonia Olson's 19:13.64 for 76th place and senior
Vivian Lau's 19:22.31 mark for 87th.
The Jumbos had 18 runners at the meet overall, with senior Jacklyn Turner finishing just outside of the top 100 with her time (19:33.06).
Providence's Niamh O'Mahony won the race individually with a 17:08.18 finish.
