MEDFORD, MA (January 25, 2025) – The #8-ranked Tufts University women's swimming & diving team fell 189.5 to 110.5 against third-ranked MIT today on Senior Day at Hamilton Pool.
In the first and only home meet of the season, Jumbos

Lara Wujciak were honored in a ceremony prior to the meet.
Wujciak would land a victory for the Jumbos with her time of 2:05.90 in the 200 butterfly. Tufts' other victory on the day came from junior
Madeleine Dunn who timed 10:14.59 to touch first in the 1000 freestyle.
The Jumbos started the meet with a 1:44.10 time in the 200 medley relay for second place. Sophomore

Quinci Wheeler, junior
Katharine Skelly and Cudney were the foursome.
Wheeler would have a pair of individual second-place finishes as well. She timed 1:03.99 in the 100 breaststroke and 2:23.39 in the 200 breast. Sophomore
Mia Solomon was behind her in third place in both events, touching in 1:05.91 for the 100 and 2:25.17 for the 200.
Dunn was among several others who earned second-place finishes today. Her 2:03.20 for the 200 backstroke scored runner-up points. Others included first-year
Noa Chambers in the 100 backstroke (57.85), sophomore
Selin Tuncay's 5:06.30 for the 500 freestyle, first-year
Angel Smyrniou in the 100 butterfly (56.88) and sophomore
Sydney Stasz swimming 2:06.04 in the 200 individual medley.
The Jumbos were also the second-place foursome for the 200 freestyle relay. Junior
Isa Chambers, Wheeler, Claus and Cudney combined on a 1:36.18 time.
The diving events were competed on Thursday at MIT. For one-meter, first-year
Riley Metz hit the NCAA qualifying mark with a 283.64 score for second place. Junior
Malia Leung's third-place score of 281.24 was also above the NCAA mark in one-meter, as was her 280.12 score for third place in the three-meter event. First-year
Luci Karp recorded NCAA qualifying marks of 262.50 in one-meter and 265.95 in three-meter. Renshaw and sophomore
Arya Gupta both hit one-meter NCAA marks as well with 260.46 and 260.40 marks, respectively.
Cudney had a pair of third-places in freestyle sprints, going 24.19 in the 50 and 52.29 in the 100. McCarty's 10:29.57 was third in the 1000 free, while junior
Madison Hagberg added a third in the 200 back (2:04.81). First-years
Olivia Pettit and
Lila Strober also had thirds, Pettit with her 57.88 swim in the 100 backstroke and Strober at 2:08.44 in the 200 butterfly.
MIT's strong performance was led by Kate Augustyn winning both the 100 and 200 backstrokes, Sarah Bernard taking the 100 and 200 breaststrokes, Ella Roberson winning the 100 free and 200 IM, Alexandra Turvey touching first in the 50 free and 100 fly and Fiora Beratahani winning both diving events. Augustyn was also on both winning relays.
Tufts heads into the championship season now with the Boston Winter Open coming up in two weeks (February 7-8) at Boston University.
