CAMBRIDGE, MA (March 30, 2024) - Tufts University's third varsity eight won its race as the Jumbo men's rowing team opened its 2024 season with races against the Harvard University Lightweight Team and the Riverside Boat Club on Saturday morning.
Rowing on the historic Charles River, Tufts was also second in the first and second varsity races on Saturday as their much-anticipated 2024 season got underway.
In the first race of the morning, the Jumbo 3V8 of coxswain

Gonzalo Escajadillo,
Henry Gray,
Chris Millay,
Abe Nelson,
Fritz Oldenburg and
Corbin Steck finished in a 7:03.8 time that was a five-second victory over Harvard (7:08.7). Riverside came in third at a 7:16.8 finish.
The second varsity race saw the Jumbos post a 7:09.8 mark that was slightly more than 10 seconds behind Harvard (6:59.1). Riverside posted a 7:22.3 finish for third. The Tufts team was coxswain

In the final race of the competition, the first varsity eights raced in tougher conditions. The Jumbos finished with a 7:31.8 mark, ahead of Riverside's 7:48.6 time. Harvard won the race in a 7:09.5 time. Competing for Tufts was coxswain
