ROCHESTER, NY (May 26, 2023) – Tufts University graduate students
Kelsie Hao and
Hannah Neilon both had All-American performances at the NCAA Division III Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Friday at St. John Fisher University.
Running in the second heat of the 800 meters, Neilon broke her own school record with a 2:10.14 time today. Fourth in the heat, it was fast enough to earn her the eighth and final spot into tomorrow's 800 final. Automatically receiving an All-American award by making Saturday's 3:00 PM final, Neilon earned her second All-America honor in 2023 after finishing fourth in the 800 at the NCAA Indoor Championships.
Hao placed seventh in the pole vault tonight with clearance of 3.85m (12'7 ½"), tying her school record in the event. It's her second All-American finish at the meet, as she placed sixth in the long jump on Thursday. She now has five All-American honors in total, two as a grad student at Tufts after earning three as an undergrad at Williams College.
Sophomore
Sarah Firth also competed in the pole vault early this evening and was 18th with a 3.50m (11'5 ¾") best mark.
The two points scored by Hao in the pole vault today gives the Jumbos 16 for the meet. They were fourth in the team scoring with eight events scored.
On the third and final day of the meet Saturday, senior
Lia Rotti is in the triple jump at 10:00 AM and the 800 with Neilon is at 3:00 PM.
