PITTSFIELD, MA (April 29, 2023) - Fifth-ranked Tufts University took two victories versus strong competition in men's rowing races at Lake Onota on Saturday afternoon.
The Jumbos were up against host Williams College, the #1-ranked program in Division III, and an MIT Lightweight squad that is ranked 10th among Division I teams. Tufts had wins in the fourth varsity and varsity four races.
In competitive first and second varsity races, the Jumbos were third in both. Defending NCAA champion Williams won the 1V8 at 6:10.9 with MIT second in 6:15.5 and the Jumbos third (6:21.9). The second varsity competition saw MIT edge Williams 6:33.1 to 6:34.8 with the Jumbos next in a 6:43.6 finish.

The Jumbos' third varsity edged MIT by three-tenths of a second, with both teams nine seconds behind the Williams eight in a race where the time was not taken. Competing for Tufts was coxswain

Aleksi Sefanov helped Tufts finish the day with some momentum in an 8:04.4 victory well ahead of second-place MIT (8:26.9) and third-place Williams (8:30.0).
Tufts will see Williams again along with many other teams in the region as they compete at the New England Rowing Championships next Saturday at Lake Quinsigamond.
