BABSON PARK, MA (October 4, 2023) -- Two of the best teams in the Northeast and Region 1 battled it out on Tuesday evening at Hartwell-Roger Field on the campus of Babson College, but neither team could break through as the Tufts University men's soccer team earned a scoreless draw at No. 9 Babson in non-conference action.
The Jumbos (6-1-3) and Beavers (7-3-2) played a gritty back-and-forth contest in the first half, as both teams fired seven shots with a total of just three corner kicks in the period. Tufts had the early chances in the game as shots by
Ethan Feigin and
Daniel Yanez whipped wide while Yanez forced a save from Beavers keeper Walker White in the 16th minute.
Babson would have the better chances through the middle part of the first half, but Tufts nearly opened the scoring in the 36th minute as
Anthony Bhangdia had a pair of chances that were stopped by White. Minutes later, Tufts keeper
Nikola Antic was forced to make a save on a Ted Rosenfeld shot as the game went to the half scoreless.
The game would stay just as tight and physical in the second half, and Tufts' best scoring chance was in the 61st minute as
Sean Traynor had his attempt stopped after a shot from just inside the right side of the box. Babson also nearly broke open the scoring in the 70th minute, but a Samuel Kalishman attempt from way out was tipped over the bar by Antic.
Babson finished the afternoon with a 13-11 advantage in shots on the day, while Babson took all but one of the five corners Tuesday. Antic finished with another shutout for the Jumbos, making five saves for his third shutout of the season and fifth as a squad.
Tufts will be back in action on Saturday, hosting Emerson College for non-conference play at 1 p.m. for Senior Day on Bello Field.
