MEDFORD, MA (January 19, 2023) -- The No. 11 Tufts University women's squash team won its third match in its last four outings on Thursday afternoon, knocking off No. 16 Bowdoin College 9-0 in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) play from Tufts Squash Center.
The Jumbos upped their NESCAC record to 2-1 on the season while posting their fifth overall victory of the campaign. First-year
Vharsha Dinesh picked up her first collegiate win on Thursday, posting an 11-6, 11-5 and 11-2 win over Emma Watts-Roy at the No. 1 position.
Riddhi Joshi earned a hard-fought victory at No. 2 with scores of 11-6, 11-2, 10-12 and 11-1 to move to 4-4 on the season.
At No. 3,
Caroline Chin needed only three games to earn fourth win of the 2022-23 campaign with an 11-9, 11-5 and 11-5 victory over Caroline Glaser.
Nieve Monderer posted a sweep at No. 4 after topping Ursula Sze 11-5, 11-8 and 11-9, while
Aleezah Burhan moved to 5-3 this year with an 11-9, 11-6 and 11-6 win at No. 5 over Skyler Spaulding.
At No. 6,
Sanjana Vissapragada continued her scorching hot start to the campaign as she earned an 11-6, 11-7, 11-7 win to move to a team-best 6-2 mark on the campaign. Senior
Isa Schneider moved above .500 for the season with an 11-6, 11-3 and 11-6 win at No. 7, while
Ami Sao outlasted Sophie Barber at No. 8 11-4, 11-3, 5-11, 9-11 and 11-6.
The final match at No. 9 also was a sweep for the Jumbos, as
Ellyn Xu earned her fifth win of the season with an 11-6, 11-7 and 11-5 win over Delphine King.
The Jumbos will head to Williamstown, MA Saturday afternoon for a huge NESCAC battle with No. 13 Williams College at Noon.
