CLINTON, N.Y. - As the No. 2 seed, The Tufts University Women's Squash team competed in their first ever NESCAC Championship title match on Sunday afternoon. Facing Trinity College, the top seed and defending NESCAC champions, the Jumbos were handed a 0-9 loss.
The Jumbos are now 8-4 on the season and 0-2 against the Bantams. Trinity improves to 13-1 and remains undefeated against conference opponents this season. Trinity has won every NESCAC Women's Squash Championship since its inception in 2007.
In a competitive match in the ninth position, senior co-captain Megan Chen came out hot with a 11-9 win, but would fall in the next three sets to Trinity's Lily Taylor-French. Junior Isa Schneider (pictured) almost extended her match to four sets in the sixth position when she pushed her third set to extra points, but ultimately lost 8-11, 6-11, 10-12. Freshman Riddhi Joshi in the No. 1 slot and sophomores Caroline Chin and Sanjana Vissapragada in the #2 and #3 positions, respectively, posted 0-3 losses. Freshman Aleezah Burhan fell 4-11, 5-11, 5-11 in the fourth position and freshman Nieve Monderer posted scores of 5-11, 2-11, 9-11 in the fifth position. Senior co-captain Diya Sanghi in the seventh slot and freshman Ellie Ackerman also fell in straight sets for the Jumbos.
Tufts, who is currently ranked 11th in national polls, will have some time off before the CSA Team Championships hosted at Harvard University February 25th-27th.
