Lia Rotti of the Tufts women's track & field team was second in the triple jump as the Jumbos started the year at the BU Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener meet Saturday.
Rotti, the NCAA indoor triple jump champion a year ago, went 11.82m (38-9 ½) in her season-debut today. At the meet including Division I and club competition, she was behind only Lexie Shannon from the UNB Reds club who won with 12.23m (40-1 ½) distance.
Rotti also placed third in the long jump at BU today. Her best attempt was a 5.49m (18-0 ¼).
Twin sister
Jen Rotti took fifth out of 15 in the triple jump with her 11.14m (36-6 ¾) mark. Sophomore
Jordan Andrew also joined
Lia Rotti in the long jump, placing 11th out of 25 contestants there with her 5.21m (17-1 ¾) best.
Defending high jump national champion
Jaidyn Appel was also in action today and placed sixth with 1.60m (5-3) clearance. Fifth-year
Hannah Neilon was entered in the mile where she ran 20th (5:12.54).
Next for the Jumbos, they will host their first invitational of the indoor season on January 14.
