MIDDLETOWN, CT (December 10, 2022) - Tufts University Women's Swimming & Diving won six events and defeated two out of three opponents at a quad meet hosted by Wesleyan University on Saturday at Webster Family Natatorium.
The Jumbos won against both the host Cardinals (270-50) and WPI (268-53), but lost to Williams College 175.5 to 145.5.
Senior
Katelin Isakoff and first-year
Lily Klinginsmith both won an individual race and were part of the Jumbo foursome that won the 200 freestyle relay. Isakoff was first in the 100 freestyle in 51.49 seconds, while Klinginsmith was first in the 200 butterfly touching in 2:03.49.
The 200 free relay win came in a 1:31.91 time that was a Wesleyan facility record. Senior
Elle Morse led off the Tufts team, Isakoff was second, Klinginsmith third and senior Katelin Ullmer was the anchor.
First-year
Madeleine Dunn earned Tufts' first victory of the meet in the 500 freestyle with a 4:55.88 time. Senior
Claire Brennan later won the 200 freestyle (1:50.65). Senior
Sydney Ho also scored a Tufts victory in one-meter diving with 240.15 points.
Isakoff also had a pair of runner-up finishes for the Jumbos. She was second in the 100 butterfly with a 56.27, and was also behind only Brennan in the 200 free at 1:51.05. Klinginsmith in the 50 fly (25.05), Ulmer's 23.78 in the 50 free and Dunn's 200 backstroke of 2:02.98 were also runner-up marks.
First-year
Malia Leung contributed second-place points off both diving boards. She scored 234.30 in one-meter and 220.85 in the three-meter contest.Â
Other seconds by sophomore Cierrra McCarty (4:32.73 in the 400 individual medley), first-year
Quinci Wheeler (52.37 in the 100 free) and sophomore
Lara Wujciak (2:21.11 in the 200 breast) added nicely to Tufts' scoring total.Â
The Jumbos are now off competitively until their meet at Brandeis University on January 15.
