The Jumbos (11-2, 7-1 NESCAC) ended the game on a 4-0 run to secure the victory over the Bobcats (7-6, 2-6 NESCAC).
Tufts was led by Dakota Adamec who had five goals and two assists. Emily Games chipped in with three goals and two assists for the Jumbos, as Catherine Lawliss recorded two goals and an assist. Caroline Nowak had three goals and Kirsten Grazewski had one. Lily Baldwin was a force in the midfield with a career-high 11 draw controls.
Teal Otley led the way for the Bobcats with three goals as Sydney Howard had two. Allison Dewey, Camillie Belletete, Katie Allard, and Summer Dias all scored one each. Dewey, Allard, Dias, and Avery MacMullen also all recorded one assist. Dewey caused a game-high three turnovers and Belletete caused two.
With 15 minutes to play in the first half, Tufts held a 4-3 lead after getting two goals apiece from Nowak and Adamec. They then went on a 5-0 run to stretch their lead to six, before Dewey got one back for Bates with just four seconds remaining in the half. The Jumbos would go into halftime up, 9-4.
The game took a bit of a turn in the second half as the Bobcats would score five of the next six goals, with the first two coming from Otley and the next three split between Dias, Allard, and Howard, to shrink the Jumbos' lead to one, 10-9.
Tufts called a timeout with 15 minutes left in the game and when they came out of it they looked completely reenergized. They dominated the final 15 minutes, ending the second half on a 4-0 run to put the game on ice. Games had two goals and Nowak and Adamec each had one in the final minutes.
Audrey Evers made five saves in net for the Jumbos as Eliza Statile made 12 for the Bobcats. Tufts won 18 of a possible 25 draw controls and also outshot Bates, 32-21.
Up next for Tufts is a matchup with No. 8 Middlebury here at Bello this Saturday at 2 p.m. Bates will host No. 4 Amherst on the same day.
