| Aandrita Deb has won four matches so far at the ITA Regional Championships. |
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – Rookie Aandrita Deb has played her way into the semifinals of the singles bracket at the ITA Regional Championships hosted by Williams College this weekend. Deb is one of four players still remaining in the bracket.
She will square off against Juli Raventos of Williams in semifinal play. The winner of that match will move on to the finals and play the winner of the match between Linda Shin and Maira Pylypiv, both of Williams.
In the opening round of play on Friday, Deb defeated Jenny Quenard of Babson, 6-0, 6-3. She then beat Kaysee Orozco of Middlebury, 7-5, 6-4. On Saturday Deb continued to bring home the wins, knocking off Melita Ferjanic of Trinity, 2-6, 6-2, 6-4. Next up was Vickie Ip of Amherst. The two had quite the battle, but Deb came out on top, 7-6(9-7), 6-7(7-9), 6-2.
Rookie Lauren Louks also made it to play on Saturday in the tournament. Unfortunately Louks was bested by Raventos in the first round of play Saturday, 6-2, 6-2. A 6-1, 6-0 win over Jordin Dubin of Smith started the tournament for Louks on Friday. She then downed Sonya Das of MIT, 6-3, 6-3, to move on to face Raventos.
Deb and Raventos play at 9:00 am on Sunday morning. The final match is scheduled for 11:00 am.
