ENFIELD, NH - The Tufts women's sailing team finished in the middle of the pack at the Mrs. Hurst Bowl hosted by Dartmouth College on Lake Mascom Saturday and Sunday.
In two divisions of 18 races each, Tufts accumulated finishes totaling 338 for ninth place. Host Dartmouth (318) was 20 ahead of the Jumbos in eighth place, while Tufts had a comfortable -15 margin over 10th place Harvard (353). The regatta, featuring 18 teams overall, was won by Coast Guard with a 205 score.
The Jumbo B boat finished eighth in its division with a 146 score. Sophomore MaryClaire Kiernan skippered with a pair of crews. Senior Caitlin Durand was crew for the first through 13th races in B, while senior captain Emily Lynn replaced her for the 14th through 18th starts. Tufts won the sixth race in B's and was second in the 12th.
Senior Kate Levinson skippered the Tufts A boat with crews Lynn (first through 13th races), first-year Molly Pleskus (14 through 17) and Durand (18). The Jumbos were 10th in the division at 192, with the Levinson-Durand combo sailing to second place in the final race.
