ENFIELD, NH - The Tufts women's sailing team returned to action on Saturday and Sunday at Dartmouth's annual Victorian Coffee Urn regatta. Sailing FJ dinghies, the Jumbos were in the top half of 18 teams with an eighth-place finish.
With 10 races in two divisions, Tufts compiled finishes totaling 88 for A and 100 for B combining to a 188 team score. Boston College won the regatta at 46-43-89.
Sailing for Tufts in A division was sophomore skipper MaryClaire Kiernan. Crew duties were split up between senior Caitlin Durand for the first through fourth races and junior Amanda Sommi for the fifth through 10th starts. The Jumbos were seventh in the division, paced by a runner-up finish in the ninth race.
In B's, Tufts was 11th overall and had a second-place showing in the 10th race. Four Jumbos participated. Senior Kate Levinson skippered for the first through eighth races before junior Kate Shaner took over for the ninth and 10th. Senior tri-captain Emily Lynn and sophomore Julia Fuller split as crews, with Fuller on board for the fifth through 10th races.
