Tammara Gary won for the Jumbos in the six spot against Colby

NEW HAVEN, CT - The Tufts women's squash team took on NESCAC rival Colby on Saturday and battled the White Mules, as five of the nine positions needed more than three games to decide a winner. The Jumbos were eventually fell to Colby, 6-3.
Tufts picked up wins in the number two, five, and six positions. Junior Paige Dahlman (Denver, CO) needed four games to handle the While Mules' Mikaela Johnson, but ended up winning, 15-13, 9-11, 11-2, 11-7.
First-year Lynn Cheng (Singapore) had her work cut out for her in the number five position, battling Florence Robinson to five games and winning, 3-11, 13-11, 11-3, 9-11, 11-8. The third win for Tufts came from sophomore Tammara Gary (Exeter, NH) in the six spot, beating Amelia Barnett, 11-5, 13-15, 11-6, 11-5.
Rookie Paget Stanco (Rye, NY) forced five games in the number one position, fighting Colby's Julie Wolpow but eventually losing, 7-11, 11-8, 6-11, 11-9, 11-6. Junior Ann Bellinger (Arlington, VA) took the loss in the number three position, while rookie Anna Bezahler (Philadelphia, PA) forced four games in the number four position, but ended up losing, 11-8, 7-11, 11-8, 11-6.
Senior Caroline Howe (Carlisle, MA), freshman Rowan Rice (Rye, NY) and junior Charlotte Griffiths (Ardmore, PA) lost in the seventh, eighth and ninth positions, respectively.
The Jumbos came back from the loss and topped Conn. College 5-4 later during the day on Saturday. The women will return to action on Wednesday night as they host Boston College at the Belmont Hill School for an 8:00 pm match.
