13th Ranked Bates College Scores 8-1 Women's Squash Victory over #24 Tufts

Charlotte Griffiths scored the lone Tufts win in the #8 match

CAMBRIDGE - Bates College won eight out of the nine matches played against Tufts in NESCAC women's squash action at Harvard University on Friday.

The lone Jumbo winner was sophomore Charlotte Griffiths (Ardmore, PA), who defeated Bates' Emma Korein in the #8 match. Griffiths won the first two matches 11-5 and 11-7 before losing the third 11-6 and taking the match with an 11-6 fourth.

Senior Angela Xu (Andover, MA) also played in a competitive four-game match at #9 for Tufts, losing to Sugeiry Betances 11-9, 11-9, 8-11, 11-9.

In the top two matches, Bates' Nessrine Ariffin defeated Jumbo senior co-captain Jessica Rubine (Cranston, RI) 11-5, 11-9, 11-2 at #1, and Cheri-Ann Parris won at #2 for Bates against sophomore Paige Dahlman (Denver, CO) 11-3, 11-7, 11-6.

The Jumbos (1-2) play three matches at the Wesleyan Round Robin on Saturday, against the host Cardinals, Smith, and Mount Holyoke College. The Bobcats, now 2-2, face Wellesley on Saturday.
