#23 RANKED WOMEN'S SQUASH LOSES SEASON OPENER TO #10 BROWN, 9-0

CAMBRIDGE - Playing their season-opener as part of the Boston Round Robin tournament at Harvard University, the Tufts women's squash team lost 9-0 to national top 10 squad Brown University on Friday night.

The Jumbos had some solid performances at the top of their order. Junior Alix Michael (Mercer Island, WA) scored 15 points in her #1 match against Brown's Sarah Crosky, who finished the 2009-10 season ranked 75th among national players. In the second spot, senior co-captain Valerie Koo (Hong Kong, China) won 14 points against Brown's Dori Rahbar.

"The team was very excited to play their first match of the season," said Tufts coach Belkys Velez, who marked her first match leading the Jumbos. "They were very conscious that Brown wasn't an easy team, but they played very well."

The Jumbos continue a busy weekend by playing against Bates and Connecticut College on Saturday.
