Colby Scores Five Unanswered Goals to Top Tufts 5-1

MALDEN, MA (December 5, 2025) – Visiting Colby College scored five unanswered goals to earn a 5-1 victory at Tufts University in NESCAC men's hockey action tonight at Valley Forum.

The meeting was between two teams receiving votes in this week's U.S. College Hockey Online poll. Colby improved to 5-1-1 overall (3-1 NESCAC) with the victory, while Tufts dropped to 4-3-1 and 2-3 in the conference.

After Colby controlled the early part of the first period, Tufts finished the stanza strong and would take a 1-0 lead. Defenseman Bryceon Lago stretched to keep the puck in Colby's zone at the right point, then found Dennis Davidson low in the left circle. He picked the top right corner for his first collegiate goal with 1:41 to go in the period.

The Mules would turn the game around with three goals in the second period. On the first, Dan Juzych got the puck near the red line and skated into the Jumbo zone. He passed over to Tyler Crist on the right side and his shot deflected off the crossbar and in to tie the game four minutes into the second period.

Colby would grab the lead less than two minutes later on a rush to the net by Colby Browne. He wheeled around two defenders to tuck a shot in from the right side for a 2-1 Mules margin.

Colby would later kill a power play and score 13 seconds later to go up 3-1. After a miscue in the Jumbo end started the rush, Browne sent the rebound of a shot by Max Abene over to Massimo Gentile on the left side of the net for a goal at 16:37 of the middle frame.

Into the third, Colby extended its advantage when Jayden Grier won the puck in the right corner and passed to James Tepper alone in the slot for a 4-1 lead at the 9:38 mark. Little more than a minute later, Crist notched his second when he took a cross-ice pass from Michael Buenzow and scored from the top of the right circle for the game's final goal.

Cooper Rautenstrauch backed the victory with a solid performance in the Colby goal, stopping 25 Tufts shots. Gus Bylin made 17 saves in 51 minutes before he was relieved by Tade Carman who made one save.

Shots finished 26-23 in favor of Tufts, and both teams went 0 for 2 on power plays.
